Optus on board for Ignite MNC

Ignite Slim Dusty Venue Optus

Optus are excited to sponsor Ignite MNC and be part of the discussion around where we will be in ten years from now. They will join the conversation on emerging technologies and how we can apply them to the challenges in business and in the community.

“Ignite will again provide a great platform to tease out ideas and hear from industry leaders and we look forward to being part of the event.” Chris Simon, General Manager, Optus Mid North Coast said.

Technology plays an increasing role in our community and looking for ways to enhance lifestyle through technology has been a key focus for Optus.

The Optus Approach

With their digital technologies and innovative programs, Optus is working towards breakthrough moments that create a positive impact for vulnerable youth and our broader community.

One example is Digital Citizenship is a range of digital education programs to help young people be safe and responsible online and thrive in today’s world of technology. The digital citizenship programs and partnerships support both primary and secondary students, as well as parents. Program tools and resources support safe, responsible and positive online behaviours. The curriculum-aligned Digital Thumbprint program is designed to be fun and interactive. It is provided free of charge to schools and is accredited by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner.  Since 2013, Digital Thumbprint has supported over 300,000 students to have safe and positive online experiences.

Future Makers

Another program on offer is the Optus Future Makers program. Since 2016, twenty five Future Makers have been empowered to use technology to address social issues for vulnerable people. Each one of the finalists were entrepreneurs who had more than just ideas but had a working prototype solution. The finalists took part in a 4-month Future Makers Accelerator program that aimed to advance their technology solution and build their business, social impact and tech expertise. The program will be open for submissions again at the end of 2019.
