Macleay to Ignite the Mid North Coast in 2019

How will our lives change over the next decade? Will the way we eat, work and play change dramatically? Will driverless cars, 3D printing, smart homes and solar power allow us to enjoy a better existence?

Ignite Mid North Coast (MNC) Symposium is on again for 2019 and will explore the theme of “Your World 2030”. Inspired by predictions discussed by Australia’s leading futurist and this year’s keynote speaker Steve Sammartino, the event will delve into how the MNC region can benefit from changes fuelled by technology and progressive thinking.

In a world first Sammartino was the driving force behind a project that built a drivable car entirely out of Lego. The project that has had more than 100 million views via his social media channels and Jay Leno has repeatedly tried to buy the car from him. He is currently constructing a house using 3D printing and is the technology reporter for ABC Radio National. Known for delivering high-octane keynote presentations and inspiring his audiences to see the world in a different light, you won’t want to miss seeing him on stage.

This year’s event will be held in the Macleay Valley and the full day program promises a stellar speaker line-up, along with exhibitions to get business, community and students buzzing with concepts of our future world.

Where did Ignite MNC begin?

The Symposium launched in 2017 at Bowraville where Todd Sampson delivered an inspirational keynote presentation on the advantages of collaboration. 2018 saw Bellingen come alive with community and businesses of all sizes taking up the opportunity to engage, discover and network.

Director of Regional Development, Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast (RDAMNC), Kerry Grace, founded the Ignite concept from her own experiences as a business owner, having identified the need to work on your business, not just in it. “It’s important to take time out every now and then to gain a fresh perspective” she said.

“Your World 2030”

In partnership with key sponsors Kempsey Shire Council and the NSW Government STEM Industry School Partnerships (SISP) Program, this year’s event embraces the theme of “Your World 2030”. Optus, Mid North Coast Area Health Service, Training Services NSW, Regional Australia Institute, Coffs Harbour City Council and Zemcon have also come on board with support for the 2019 event.
